Eagle-Summit Foot & Ankle COVID-19 Update – 3/19/2020

by | Mar 19, 2020

We are all aware that the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) is everywhere at this point. Governor Polis has declared a state of emergency in Colorado, COVID-19 has been declared a national emergency and it has officially been labeled a global pandemic. The number of coronavirus cases continues to increase rapidly in Colorado and throughout the United States. Our local community and healthcare system have been dramatically affected by this situation.

At Eagle-Summit Foot & Ankle, the health and safety of our patients and staff has always been a top priority. Our practice has always followed universal precautions against infectious disease transmission as well as routine cleaning and sterilization procedures to ensure the safety of our patients and staff. Since the outbreak started we have, however, increased the frequency of cleaning for “hightouch” surfaces such as doorknobs, phones, computers, countertops, etc. throughout our offices.

We are also keeping up to date on the latest recommendations and guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), and Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) to implement several new strategies to help prevent the possibility of exposure to COVID-19 for our patients and staff. They are:

  • Stay home if you are sick: We are asking our staff and patients alike to remain home if they have any symptoms including fever, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue or respiratory illness.
  • Limiting additional visitors: Following suit with many other healthcare facilities, we ask that patients arrive for their appointment unaccompanied or, if necessary, with a single caregiver.
  • Social Distancing: We will make every effort to limit your time in our reception area near other visitors by bringing you to a treatment room as soon as available. Please arrive promptly for your appointment and we will do our best to limit your wait time. For new patients or those who have not been seen in the past three (3) years, patient demographic and health history forms can be accessed on our website at https://esfootankle.com/new-patients/ and filled out prior to your appointment.
  • We recommend that higher risk patients reschedule Non-Urgent Appointments. Older adults (>60) and people who have severe underlying chronic medical conditions like heart or lung disease, diabetes, or who are immunocompromised are at a higher risk for developing more serious complications from COVID-19. We recommend postponing non-urgent appointments until April 1st or later. Please consult with your primary health care provider to determine the best course of action for you.

We appreciate your trust in our office and look forward to providing the highest-quality foot and ankle care for you and your family. Again, the health and safety of our patients and staff is our top priority. We will continue to follow the recommendations and guidelines from the CDC, WHO and CDPHE and will keep you informed as this crisis evolves.
